Inconel

What is Inconel

Inconel is a family of alloys made from nickel and chromium that has major applications in manufacturing. These alloys can withstand high temperature and pressure, and oxidation-corrosion without losing their structural integrity. Though not naturally magnetic, some of them exhibit the property [1, 2].

What is Inconel Used for

  • Since these alloys can withstand corrosion, they are used in making propeller blades, propulsion motors, bellows, submarine fittings, hydraulic line tubing, aircraft ducting, and heat exchangers [11].
  • Some types of inconel are used in the manufacture of exhaust components, pipes, valves, heat-shield sheets, reactors, roller hearths, process equipments, radiant tubes, and turbine wheels [11, 12].
  • These are useful in making jewelry of different designs.
